THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS. LEAVE OR BE SPOILED

Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, is about Miles Morales(Played By Shameik Moore) being launched across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People in charge of protecting the Multiverse. When the Spider-People clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must define what it means to be a hero. Spider-Verse was amazing. The story was terrific, the characters were unforgettable, the art was unique, and everything about this film was incredible. The movie began with Gwen Stacy (Played by Hailee Steinfeld) talking about her backstory as Spider-Woman and a basic recap of what happened in ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’; this was to show how this movie is just as much her story as it is Miles’ story. The Soundtrack that coincided with the film was AMAZING. Every main Spider-Person had their own themes, and it matched their character perfectly.
Miles had bongos in his theme to represent his Puerto Rican heritage, and he also had discs scratching from turntables to show his admiration for rap. Pavitr Prabhakar (Played by Karan Soni) had a very Hindustani tune to the music to represent that he was the Spider-man from India. Spider-man 2099 (Played by Oscar Issac) had a Techno music genre to convey that he is the Spider-man of the future, and his theme was also very eerie to contrast him from the other upbeat Spider-People. All Stations- Stop Spider-Man (Scored by Daniel Pemberton) was one of the best scores I’ve heard in any film. 30 seconds into the score, you hear the heavy breathing from Miles, which is a great detail. The music sounds like it was a collage of many Spider-people themes. This Soundtrack was incredible. The Art-Style in this film was excellent and unique. Each character and universe shown had a different style of art. Spider-Punk(Played by Daniel Kaluuya) had a choppy, colorful, and inconsistent art style that perfectly fit his character “I don’t believe in consistency .”Spider-man 2099 had lines sticking out of his suit, and you could still see the draft lines in his head like his character was still being drawn, which also matches his character because he kept adding new technologies to his suit. The Spot (Played by Jason Schwartzman) also had draft lines inside his character model like he was incomplete, which matches his character because he was erased into some monster. Later in the film, his character gains power which colors him in, erasing those draft lines. In the climax of the film, you see the Spider-People chasing Miles so they can stop him from leaving; it was a fantastic sequence with many cameos, and each Spider-Person had a different art style; for example, Scarlet-Spider (Played by Andy Samberg) had Cel-Shading for his Spider-man, Spider-Man 1967(Played by Paul Soles) had a 2D model for his Spider-man), Spectacular Spider-man (Played by Josh Keaton) had his Spider-man from the early 2000’s brought into 3D, and Insomniac Spider-man (Played by Yuri Lowenthal) had his Playstation model ripped straight from the games.
I know many people HATED how this movie ended on a cliffhanger, but I understand why the directors had to do so. It was due to the animation taking too long to animate for one movie; the story was perfect but too long to be put into one movie, and they wanted to hype up the third movie, ‘Spider-man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ I loved every minute of this film. The comedy didn’t feel out of place, the emotional strokes of the story were gratifying, the animation style was crazy cool, and the story was satisfying. I can’t say anything negative about this movie, and I believe it will be remembered as one of the greatest Spider-man films of all time. I give Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse a 8.8/10, and I highly recommend this film.
